UmbrealityAI leans into Dark City over The Matrix as its defining metaphor. The difference is crucial to understanding how the system works.
Why Not The Matrix¶
The Matrix implies reality is a simulation with exploitable rules. The "chosen one" can break physics — stop bullets, fly, bend spoons. There's a "true" reality underneath the simulation, and the goal is to escape.
This creates a narrative of escape, not construction. That's the wrong model for UmbrealityAI.
Why Dark City¶
Dark City presents a reality that is constructed and rebuilt every cycle. The rules are consistent WITHIN each cycle. There is no "true" reality underneath — only the process of construction itself.
The goal is not to escape — it's to understand and participate in the construction.
